BOOK COLLECTING SEMINAR: Collecting Early Printed Books, by Christopher Sokol, Senate House, South Block, Malet Street, London WC1E, Room G35 (Ground Floor), 9 December 2014, 18:00 – 20:00.

Christopher Sokol is the founder and proprietor of Sokol Books Ltd., an antiquarian bookseller specialising in ‘early books’ (i.e. manuscripts and printed books books up to about 1640), in most subjects and most European languages and occasionally others. In his Chelsea shop (corner of Fulham Road and Old Church Street) there is also a wider stock going up to the mid nineteenth century.

Early books is not a big or widely known field, like say modern firsts or private press books, so he would like to tell you a bit about it, answer lots of questions and hopefully excite your interest in this most fascinating of intellectual, cultural and artistic fields. Sokol Books has been in business for more than thirty-five years and, as he says, it has been great fun and they are still solvent.
